The jobs announced in Canada are very competitive and you have to prove yourself in order to score a decent job. Jobs in Canada for International Graduates

Law Jobs

If you just have recently got your law degree then there are lots of opportunities for you to work in Canada. However, you must note that there are certain requirements that you are supposed to comply with in order to start practicing law in Canada. International law graduates have to take NCA assessment tests through the Federation of Law Societies of Canada. There may be many more tests to go through as well depending on the qualification and experience.

Mostly, an overseas law graduate has to go through around five different exams. Once you have passed all these tests and exams then you will have lots of opportunities to work in the law field in Canada. Some of the most common fields that you may prefer to work in is the Law in Public Interest legal aid work, private practice for individual clients within a specific field such as corporate, environmental, or employment law, or working for the government in a legal capacity such as a Crown Attorney.

Engineering Jobs

However, working as an engineer is highly regulated as you cannot call yourself an engineer until you have the right license for it. In order to start working as an engineer in Canada, you will have to obtain the license for your province or territory association.

The provincial or territorial bodies set the rules and regulations for engineers for entering and practicing in their province or territory. License issuing is very strict and it is only granted to that individual who is competent and meets all the criteria specified. While issuing the license, the regulatory body also considers the qualification and previous working experience. You will have to contact the regulatory body and inform them about your area of expertise.

Accounting & Finance

The graduates with Accounting & Finance degree are welcomed to work in Canada as a certified general accountant; however, they must first complete 4 PACE (Professional Applications and Competence Evaluations) modules which are offered by the certification body, CGA-Canada.

You are trained while going through 3 years of training which is mandatory to become a certified accountant. Those people who are graduates in finance or business are eligible to become a chartered accountant in Canada; however, they must have 3 years of professional working experience in order to become certified.

Alternatively, you may also apply to become a certified management accountant, if you have an accounting and finance degree by taking a 2-day examination to assess your skills. Then this will give you access to 2 years training program in order to further polish your skills.

Teaching Job

If you have a graduate degree and excellent English skills then you can apply for teaching jobs as well. You may come as an English teacher to Canada as your second language. However, there is very little demand for this type of people. Mostly, french populated areas keep looking for English teachers. If you have previous English teaching experience and a TEFL certificate then it would be an advantage for you. If you are still overseas when ask to appear in an interview then they may conduct the interview via Skype call or telephone call. I would recommend you to do a thorough research of the company and its operations before applying for the job.

Mostly, Canada recognizes the international qualification; however, you must check whether or not your qualification is recognized by Canadian bodies. The employer may ask you to get your degree recognized before offering you the position.
